“Tracy has an incredible way of translating the story into the staging, so there is a real flow, a real connection to what’s happening and not just the dancer as a mover.”

— Alexis Carra, Actor

“Her background as an actor adds infinite levels of mastery to her dances.”

— Peter Lefcourt & Terri Hanauer, Playwrights

“You once said “using art to feel emotions is actually a better way of dealing with pain than stuffing them and letting them consume us,” and I’ve never forgotten that.”

— Jillene, Tracy’s student

“Tracy has taught me so much about letting dance and performance be a full body, multi-dimensional experience. She pushes me to conquer the details, let myself breathe into the movement, and most of all letting the dance be a real performance, every time.”

— Hannah Johnson, Tracy’s student

“Tracy taught me to rely on my intuition over the mirror. Feeling the right position has changed my awareness of my body and has allowed me to do things I never knew I was capable of.”

— A. Rowe, Tracy’s student

Produced by City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Performing Arts Division, this weekend of events honors women artists and activists who have impacted and redefined the human experience.

An embodiment of DCA’s commitment to investing in hyperlocal creative communities and individual artists, the City has commissioned Bernard Brown, Mona Jean Cedar, Chris Emile, Caitlin Javech, Ibuki Kauramochi, Genna Moroni, Siwaraya Rochanahusdin, and Tracy Silver to perform dance and spoke word works that illuminate Kingston and Lewitzky’s lives & legacies.

I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t in pursuit of a very big goal.

— Tracy Silver

A. I like a challenge

B. I fell in love with those particular pursuits and

C. I didn’t want to deal with the world around me. My choices served all those purposes and also brought me great joy. I have had the good fortune to turn all my pursuits of love into my livelihood …and then my real work began.

I believe anyone who enters the world of art initially does so from absolute passion and desire. Keeping that fire burning is the true test and through all my accomplishments and failures, the one thing I am most proud of is the constant flame that still burns in me to keep on my own pursuit …and to help others on theirs.
